More about the authors…
The lead authors of the manual were Delwyn (Del) Thomas and Bettina Gollnow.
Del Thomas is a horticulturist and floral designer with a lifetime of experience in the floriculture, nursery and garden and floristry industries.
Del taught floristry and horticulture at TAFE part time for over 20 years whilst managing her wedding flower business. She also consults on other projects, assisting small growers and home gardeners with the advice, vision and wisdom of her many years of experience across the horticultural industry. In preparing this book, she consulted leading cut flower growers, wholesalers, postharvest experts, and leading florists.
Bettina Gollnow, currently Communications and Extension Manager with WildFlowers Australia, is an extension horticulturist with over 26 years of experience of working with the Australian cut flower industry. Bettina has managed many projects, and co-authored and produced numerous valuable industry manuals.
The introduction was co-authored by Dr John Faragher and Professor Daryl Joyce, both eminent researchers and specialists in the field of postharvest physiology and committed to discovering the best ways of maintaining flower quality and vase life.
The easy, readable style and appealing design reflects the expertise and attention to detail of the technical editor Matthew Stevens to whom the authors are most grateful.
